You will be making a Google Slideshow on animals at risk of extinction. Working in groups of two or alone, pick one of the following animals to research and learn about: Sumatran orangutans, African elephants, blue whales, aye-ayes, vaquitas, black rhinos, Sumatran tigers, giant pandas, hawksbill turtles, mountain gorillas.
After you have selected your topic, use the CPS databases or reliable websites to find answers to the following questions (make sure you divide up the questions to research) Hint- a great website is theWorld Wildlife Federation:
1. Where does this animal live (country and habitat)?
2. How many of these are still in existence?
3. What does this animal eat?
4. What are the threats to this creature's existence? (For example, is loss of habitat due to human encroachment a cause of its declining numbers? Does pollution hurt this creature? Is the creature being hunted to extinction?)
5. Write down one interesting fact about this animal.
DAY TWO
When you have all your information, write a short (3 paragraph, maximum) statement to use with pictures. If you answered all the questions above with only one sentence per question, go back now and add additional information about your animal. Be sure to assign roles to each person in your group and decide who will say which lines. Start putting your Google Slides together in the appropriate order.
DAY THREE
Locate and download at least five photographs or videos to use in the presentation. Start putting your slideshow together.
Be sure to include credits for the pictures you have used, if they are available.
DAY FOUR Use this day to refine your slideshow and make final edits. BE SURE TO PROOFREAD ALL OF YOUR SLIDES.
